l The ratio of two quantities in the same unit is a fraction that one quantity is of the other.
l The ratio of two numbers is usually expressed in its simplest form.
l The first term of a ratio is called antecedent and the second term is called consequent.
l All equivalent ratios can be expressed as one common ratio in its lowest form.
l An equality relation between two ratios is called the proportion.
               l a, b, c, d are in proportion, if a : b = c : d, where a and d are extreme terms of extremes and b, c are
                   middle terms or means.
l In a proportion, the product of the extreme terms equals the product of the middle terms.
               l If a : b = b : c, then b² = a × c.
l Finding the unit value of something in order to calculate the value of an item for a given number of
units is called the unitary method.
