              11.   The present age of a father is 36 years and that of his son is 8 years. Find the ratio of:

             12.    In class VI  of a school having 50 students, 20 play cricket, 10 play table tennis     and 15 play
                    badmin ton. The remain ing students do not play any game. No student is allowed to play more
                    than one game. Find the ratio of the number of      students:
                    (a) playing cricket to the number who play table tennis.
                    (b) playing table tennis to the number who play badminton.

                    (c) playing some game to the number who do not play any game.
                    (d) playing some game to the total number of students.

                                                           Proportion

            A proportion is an equation with equal ratios on both sides. Consider four numbers say, a b c, ,  and d such
            that a : b =  c : d then a b c, ,  and d are said to be in proportion. The symbol :: is used for proportionality.
