                                                   Like and Unlike Decimals

Like decimals : Decimals having the same number of decimal places are called like decimals.

For examples : 7.62, 9.03, 13.58 are like decimals, each having two decimal places.

Unlike decimals : Decimals having different number of decimal places are called unlike decimals.
            For examples : 5.4, 3.72, 15.032 are unlike decimals.

               NOTE

Putting any number of zeros to the extreme right of the decimal part of a decimal does not change its value.
               Thus, we may write 7.53 = 7.530 = 7.5300, etc.

                                            Addition and Subtraction of Decimals

Rules for Ad di tion and Sub trac tion:
              1. Change the given decimals to like decimals.

              2. Write the numbers in place value chart or arrange in columns in such a way that the digits of same
                   place are in same columns.
              3. Add or subtract the numbers in column from the rights, the same way as we carry the normal addi -
                   tion or subtraction.
