LAB ACTIVITY

            Objective:

To know about the equivalent fractions, experimentally.

            Materials Required:
Chart paper, sketch pens of different colours.

            Preparation:
            Students work independently.

            Activity:
              1. Using each digit once, make two equivalent fractions:

                   Exam ple : 2 3
                                   1 2 3 =
                                                           8 12
                                      2 8

                    (i) (ii) (iii) (iv)

              2. The equiv a lent frac tions given here are quite inter est ing. Each one of them uses all the digits from
                   1 to 9 once.
                                                    2 3 79
                                                      = =
                                                    4 6 158

Can you find some more such equivalent fractions?
Activity : Division in equal parts.

            Steps:
             (i) The figure given can be divided into equal parts
                                                                             E C
                   in several ways.

(ii) Each part must be exactly the same size and shape.
            (iii) Copy the figure.
(iv) Divide it into 2 parts.
                          1 D
             (v) Shade of the figure.
                          2
(vi) Again copy the same figure, divide it into 3 parts.
                          1
(vii) Shade rd of the figure. The figure can also be
                          3
                   divide into 6 equal parts.
                          1 A B
(viii) Shade th of the figure ABCDE.
