To Draw a Perpendicular at a Point on the Line
Con struc tion : Draw a per pen dic u lar at a point on the line seg ment AB = 4.5 cm us ing a ruler and a pair of
com passes.
Given : A line seg ment AB of length 4.5 cm and a point P ly ing on it.
To con struct : A line pass ing through P be ing per pen dic u lar to AB.
Step 1. Draw a line seg ment AB of length 4.5 cm and take a point P on it.

Then, PQ is perpendicular to AB passing through the point P.
To Draw a Perpendicular to a Given Line From a Point Lying Outside the Line
Con struc tion : Draw a per pen dic u lar at a point out side the line seg ment AB = 5.5 cm.
Given : A line seg ment AB of length 5.5 cm and a point Y ly ing out side the line.
To con struct : A line pass ing through Y which is per pen dic u lar to AB.
